I would like to use the SMB port on the cRIO as a trigger for datalogging. I found The KnowledgeBase article Using the SMB Connector for Digital I/O on cRIO-901x Controllers in a previous forum post. This article has VI's which should give me access to the SMB port, but I'm having trouble getting a signal. I have a button rigged to the SMB port which has a battery to supply 5V. Just to try it out, the SMB read VI is connected to an indicator. There is no response to the button. However, if I flip the USER1 DIP Switch on the cRIO, the indicator for the SMB port goes on. Flipping the USER1 DIP Switch back to off does not cause the indicator for the SMB port to turn off. Does anyone have an idea what is going on?

Nevermind. Neglected to have a resistor with the battery. SMB signal was staying high. The link to the USER1 switch was just because in my haste I had put the trigger and indicator inside of a loop which was activated by the USER1 switch. My bad.
