I keep reading about "FPGA VI", and I don't know what that is. Is it a Field Programmable Gate Array Virtual Instrument? Is it a 4th generation FPGA?
Here's and example of where I'm reading this:http://www.ni.com/white-paper/7693/en

It is simply a VI that you will compile to run on an FPGA. For instance, on the cRIO chassis you have a LabVIEW RT computer and an FPGA backplane. The FPGA backplane needs code to run. So you write a VI that is setup to run on the FPGA target.
