I´ve used a crossover cable and I´ve set an static IP address in MAX. I´ve tried to reinstall Module FPGA and Module RT and the drivers. Now I´m suspecting something´s going wrong with the hardware.

It is unlikely there is something wrong with the hardware.  Are there any LEDs flashing on the cRIO? If it is in Safe Mode (led blinking 3x a second), then it will not appear in the add devices list.  Also if the cRIO does not have the latest software installed to it (From MAX, right click on the software branch, select add/remove programs, download the latest version of all drivers to the cRIO), it will not appear in LabVIEW 8.0.

Hi Takahashi_Haruo,

There are a couple things that I can think may be going on (in addition to Paul's comments).

First one, are you looking to the proper Add Target & Devices? In order to discovery a cRIO controller (e.g. cRIO-9002) you need to select the root item in the LV Project tree (the "Project: My Project Name" item), right-click and select New>>Targets and Devices... on it. After you do that, you must see "Real-Time CompactRIO" as an option you can expand. If you don't see that option, then software is not properly installed (although from the screenshot you posted your installation seems correct). Attached is a screenshot of what you should be seeing.

Second option assumes you see the "Real-time CompactRIO" option and it just does not discover your controller. In this case, discovery may not work due networking issues (firewalls, controller in a different subnetwork, incorrect controller network settings, ...). To see if this is the problem (and to workaround the discovery protocol not finding the controller), do the following:

- Right-click the project tree item (root item) >> New >> Targets and Devices...
- Select the "Existing device on remote subnet" option
- Expand the "Real-Time CompactRIO" category (if you don't see this, then you are either in the wrong Add Targets and Devices or the installation is incomplete)
- Select your controller type (in this case cRIO-9002), enter the controller's IP address in the bottom left corner of the dialog and click OK.
- A cRIO controller item will be created in the project and you should be able to connect to it in case the IP and the network settings on the controller are correct.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I was indeed looking in the wrong place. I was expecting to see something appear in the Add target & Devices in My computer folder. I would see nothing, because I had nothing connected to my computer. When I tried to add target & device in the root, I was able to see my remote system. I ask you guys for excuses because I was so fool. But I have to say that I was mislead by FPGA Training Lessons. I have downloaded such lessons and have paid attention on the instructions, but they didn´t have any metion to remote systems, it only metions PCI-based FPGA.
Thank all,
Takahashi

I am using a card PCI 7831R. How should I make it show up?

It shows up in my MAX...

I am also having this problem.  I have the FPGA card 7831-R installed on my machine through a PCI slot and it shows up on my MAX, but when I go to add it as an fpga target it does not seem to exist.

It also will not let me use the FPGA project wizard.

Please let me know if you have any ideas!

Brian.
