how to wire a " 4-wire load cell" to NI-9219 which is coupled with cRIO-9014

Hi,

I am trying to acquire data from a 3133_0 - Micro Load Cell (0-5kg) - CZL635 . I have a C series analog module (9219) connect to cRIO-9014. everything looks fine but i cannot see any signal when i display the signal in Labview. I dont know if there is a connection problem or something else, i have even tried to do it through example VIs but it does not work either.

Is anyone there to help please.

Thanks

Hi ali72,

Have you connected the load cell directly to the NI-9219 or are you trying to use it alongside the 1046 PhidgetBridge? We have to bear in mind here that direct voltage output of the load cell is very low if no amplification is used.

Have you tried measuring the input using MAX test-panels and/or using DAQ assistant within LabVIEW?

The NI-9219 has the ability to interface to different type of bridge circuits - which is the mode you will need for connecting a load cell directly to it.

You'll need to examine the specifics of the load cell to determine which bridge circuit you need and also the required excitation voltage and how it is applied.

We have used a NI-9237 to interface directly to a load cell - which is a module dedictaed for that.

Hi Mark,

I have connected it directly to NI-9219 considering that the NI-9219 provides all signal conditioning (amplification and excitation in this case). this what i understood from the user manual and specification of NI-9219.

And about MAX and DAQ assistant, i am using comapc RIO-9014 which i think does not use DAQmx if i am not wrong.

Thanks

My apologies, I have jumped the gun on that one.

DAQmx is indeed not supported on cRIO-9014, but you can write FPGA code to accomplish data acquisition. Could you check against the wiring picture under "Connecting your sensor" on this link and confirm that this is the way you connected your load cell? Ignore the rest of the KB as it is related to using DAQ.
