problem with detecting the sbRIO in targets and devices

Hi,
The exact problem is the this first in our host system we had NI-RIO software 3.0 for compatibility with the sbRIO-9642 we downgraded the software to 2.4.1. now after detecting the device in MAX but in project explorer window>> project>>New>>target and devicesthe sbRIO-9642 is not detecting.it shows some items like field point network module, mobile, Real-Time desktop etc., and when we try to run some example programs its shows the message that some of the su-VI is missing so we are not able to run any program. please help us in this regard.

thanks with regards,

Hi P.Anand,

You must be knowing that the software installed on the  main host system should be either the same or of higher version than that installed on your rio device.

The problem is specific to NI-RIO version 3.0 when the Real-Time contoroller has a static IP address configured. The easiest workaround is to type the RIO address into the I/O control, instead of using the browse dialog to select it. The RIO address be formatted as rio://[x.x.x.x]/RIOx, where [x.x.x.x] is the IP address of the RIO controller, and the second x is the device number. For example, rio://192.168.0.1/RIO0

A second workaround is to temporarily place the controller onto a network and dynamically assign it an IP address with DHCP.

A third workaround is to load the bitfile to flash memory using the Real-Time Target System Replication toolkit. This toolkit has the ability to erase and download a bitfile to the flash memory of an FPGA device.

As a personal advice i would suggest to use NI-RIO version 3.2; i have worked on sbrio 9642 using the same version and haven't faced any problems yet.

Hope this helps.
