sbRIO 9606 setup and setting IP address

I have something going on I do not understand.  This might well be due to my limited understanding of the sbRIO.

I have new sbRIOs.  At the start I can see them in MAX and as the first step I am trying to set the IP address before running or deploying an image.

Once I set the address using MAX it asks to reset the board and once I do MAX can no longer communicate with it.  I can ping it at the new address, I can ftp to it.  The status light blinks twice on a regular basis which indicates a software problem of some sort according to the documentation but none of the NI software can communicate successfully with it.  I've tried MAX, labview and the application deployment utility.

This appears to be happening on multiple boards so I am assuming it is something I am doing not the boards.

Hi 12345678901,

Have you checked to see if the IP reset switch is not selected in MAX (under Controller Settings)?

HI 12345678901,

Also, try to reformat your sbRIO and readd software to it.

Yeah, I have tried that.

Full step sequence

  - Reset to safe mode

  - Reset again to get a link local address

+ Can now find in MAX

  - Use MAX to format

  - Cycle Power to check

+ Can now find in MAX

  - Use MAX to change IP address

  - Reset

  - Ping at new IP  address works

  - ftp at new IP  address works

  - max cannot connect (even if given the new address).  Unlike the link local address it is on the same subnet.

Only way out I have found is to start again at step 1

Try turning your firewall off and let me know what results from that.

Not optimistic about that,  Firewall rules are pushed out from server and although I do have adminstrative rights I see no way to turn it off even temporarily.  I will ask, however.

On a more practical note we do have other boards here (2) that were set up previously that I do not have this problem with.

Are you able to manually add the device in MAX?

Right click Remote Systems and select Remote Device (not on the local subnet) and enter the IP address you set.

Also, try connecting the sbRIO directly to your computer and see if the same issue persists

Probably should have mentioned it, all of these tests are done with the board directly connected to the computer.

I have added the IP to MAX with no effect.

Are you able to set the IP address while the device is in safe mode?

Refer to post above.  That is how I set the IP address.  Is there another way to set a static IP address?

However once set none of the NI tools can find the board including MAX, although ping and FTP work correctly.
