4-20mA temperature transmitter

Hi gang - newby here. I'm using a Honeywell ST250 2-wire 4-20mA temperature transmitter to send and record a continuous signal to a PCI-6025e. Is there any way to do this without an intermediate signal conditioner? I am clear on the need for a 250 ohm resistor to convert the 4-20mA to voltage, but I'm not clear on the wiring or the appropriate vi to use.

It sounds like you are just getting started with data acquisition in LabVIEW.  Some great references for getting started are:

Its fairly straight forward, just measure the volt drop across the resistor.

I put the resistor in the return path on the low potential side, I also use 12v rather than the standard voltages. Just in case........ however

Watch our for floating power supplys though !!!
