DAQ Controlling PXI/SCXI

Dear sir/madam,

My application involves acquiring several force and pressure measurements (in the form of voltage), as well as temperature (thermocouple) for impact testing (high/fast response time). The NI system, that I plan to purchase before this year ends, consist of a PXI/SCXI chassis, PXI-6221 M series DAQ, SCXI-1112 Thermocouple Input module + PXI controller and other accessories. I was told that I cannot use the PXI-6221 to read and record voltage measurements because that module is being used to control the SCXI - the module cannot be used to control the SCXI and as a PXI DAQ simultaneously. Can somebody please clarify this?

Also, assuming that the above claim is correct, can you suggest which SCXI AI module is best to be used for impact testing?

That is a wrong bit of information that you have been given!

You can indeed use the AI channels on your DAQ card even when it is controlling/acquiring modules in an SCXI chassis!
