Quick question regarding the use of external Excitation source for multiple sensors

I'm currently using a cDaq and NI9263 to provide 10v excitation to some sensors and an NI9215 to read the signal.
Problem I'm having is when all the sensors go full scale it pushes the current output limitations of the AO module.

My solution is to purchase a standalone excitation-grade power supply (PST-10). My question/concern is: will I run into any issues when using a single source to supply constant 10Vex to multiple sensors? Noise, cross-talk, voltage drop on certain channels as other channels increase in scale, etc. My understanding is as long as the mA output of the power supply is not exceeded (which it never will with this PS) I should be fine.

Thoughts? Feedback?

Hi Okors,

You shouldn't run into a problem with running all of the sensors off a single power supply as long as you do not go over its rated power output.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.

Depending on your resolution needs, you still can into crosstalk issues if the powersupply regulator isn't fast enough ..

The 'spec' just claim the output ripple and and output voltage/current, but don't tell anything on how it will handle dynamic loads.

So send your needs (10V+-x at current loads XY to YX mA  at frequency  up to YY Hz ) to omega and ask them. That leaves you a return option and may save your time 😉

If you run full bridge, 6 wire with all sensors.... no problem 😉
