What am I missing

I have a SCXI 1000 Chassis, a SCXI 1349 Adapter, a 1120D card and a 1121 card. The 1120D is connected to the SCXI 1349 and it works fine. I do not see the 1121. I am assuming that it must be cabled to the 1349. If this is the case what cable do I need? If not, what else should I try?

A couple of questions...

1) Are you configuring the chassis in Traditional DAQ or DAQmx?
2) If you connect the 1349 to the 1121 module directly (instead of the 1120D) and select it to be the communicating device, can you see both the 1121 and the 1120D?
3) Are you trying to auto-detect the modules when you configure the chassis or add them manually?

CANNOT SEE EITHER MODULE, only the PCI-6052e

3) Are you trying to auto-detect the modules when you configure the chassis or add them manually?
Configuring with 'Measurement and Automation Explorer'


I have the following:

PCI-6052E DAQ
SH68-68EP Cable
SCXI 1349 Adapter
SCXI 1000 Chassis
SCXI 1120/D AI
SCXI 1121 AI

When I run 'Measurement and Automation Explorer' I see the PCI-6052E (Device 1) listed under 'Devices and Interfaces'

I do not see the 1121 or the 1120/D module. When I run the test panel I can only read the module that the SCXI-1349 is connected to. What jumper or other settings do I need to change to access both of these modules?

What is happening here is that you need to first configure an SCXI device in MAX, and then you will be able to see the different modules.

I would recommend taking a look at this document: Getting Started with SCXI
Setup information for the SCXI-1120/D is found on page 3-8
Setup information for the SCXI-1121 is found on page 3-14

Basically here is a rundown of what you need to do in the software to confirm that everything is working:

1. Connect everything and power everything on.
2. Go to Start > All Programs > National Instruments > Measurement and Automation
3. Expand the My System > Devices and Interfaces tree
4. Right click on Traditional DAQ Devices and click Add SCXI Chassis...
5. Follow the instructions making sure that the type of Chassis, Chassis ID, and address are filled out.
6. Once the SCXI chassis is created you should be able to read channels from the device by using test panels or programmatically

While it may seem like a long list everything is pretty fluid and should go smoothly.

Note: When you address an SCXI channel in traditional DAQ you have to use the SCXI Channel String which is in the format of "oba!scb!mdc!d". Where a is the board's device number, b is the SCXI Chassis address, c is the module number and d is the channel(s) you are wanting to view.
