Hello Daniel,

I suggest you take a look at our SCXI Troubleshooting Resource. This page can help you determine if your system is configured correctly.

Can you provide some more information about the problem you are having? I assume by your post that you are referring to step 5 of the document you have linked. Is this correct? When you say that the SCXI-1200 is not listed, do you mean that there is no entry for Data Acquisition Devices in the Hardware Types window? Or do you mean that the list of National Instruments devices populates and the SCXI-1200 is not shown in the Models window?

Hi Matt,
Thanks for your reply.

Yeah i have trouble with step 5. After selecting 'Data Acquition Devices', there is no 'SCXI-1200' as depicted on the picture (but there are other NI devices to choose from). Same thing with step 7 of the SCXI Troubleshooting resource.

I have the NI Developer pack installed and registered.

We are waiting on a quote on the SCXI-1349 connector, so we can use our PXI device to drive the SCXI rack. So this problem may not occur afterwards.

Hello Dan,

If you note the SCXI Troubleshooting Resource we discussed, you will see that step 5 includes the following note:

" If Data Acquisition Devices does not show up, it is likely that you have not installed NI-DAQ correctly."

This leads me to ask, do you have NI-DAQ installed on your machine? If so, what version do you have? You should be able to tell if you driver supports the SCXI-1200 by reading the Read Me file that accompanies the driver. The SCXI-1200 is a legacy device and is only supported by the NI-DAQ driver, not NI-DAQmx. Additionally, the device is not supported in Windows XP or Windows 2000, which may impact your application.

I hope this helps.

Is there any way I can configure my scxi-1200 with a Windows XP Os?  From the website, http://www.ni.com/support/scxi/remote/sftcnfg.htm

it  seems only support by  up to Windows 98 and NT.

Thank you

Hi Matt,

So, I checked the posted link, and it states that the scxi-1200 is not supported by XP even I install a DAQ6.9.3.  Is there any other way I can make it run in my XP system?

Thank you.

Good morning Hsien,

It appears that you would like to communicate with a SCXI chassis using Windows XP.  Unfortunately, as you noted from the webpage, the SCXI-1200 is not supported with Windows XP.  There are other options however.  You could use a SCXI-1600 to control the chassis, or you could use a Multifunction M-series DAQ card, such as the PCI-6251, with a SCXI-1349 to communicate to the chassis.  The SCXI 1349 plugs into the back of one of your SCXI input devices and cables back to your Multifunction DAQ card to your PC.
