Hi McFerra!

Have you got the Full or Lite edition of DataLogger?

With the Lite edition you can't menage databases (see this link for differences between full and lite edition)

If you have the full edition, you have to associate the database with the task: in this Knowledge Base you can find the steps you need to do this.

Hi!

With the lite edition you can acquire data using DAQmx drivers, view them in graphs and store them in Excel, Diadem or in text or HTML files.

Here you can find the "Getting Started Guide".

Remember that some of the features described in the guide are only for Full version (see this link).

Best regards,

Hi McFerra,

what kind of problem are you experiencing? Can you give some more details?

For Example in order to acquire data, you have to right click on "VI Logger Tasks" and choose Create New.

You have to set the properties for the acquisition in the Task Attribute Task, to choose the folder where you want to save the data and finally you have to press the Run Task button.

Best regards,

Serena

Hi,

Unfortunatly, I too have been confronted with the "database does not exist in the specified path" error message.  I'm using the latest version of VI Logger (lite version), which was installed with the latest version of NIDAQmx driver software, downloaded a few days ago, installed on a PXI-8195 embedded controller in a PXI chassis.  The OS is 32-bit WinXP SP3.  The DAQ card I am attempting to collect data with is a PXI-6281 M-series card.  Yes, a possible solution is to upgrade to the full version of VI Logger and help the program find the database, but if the lite version can't work out of the box, so to speak, why should the full version be any better?

If I create a task (acquire voltage signals from 4 input chanels at the rate of 100 pts/sec continuously for several hours at a time) right clicking on the DAQ device (which passes the self test check) in the MAX software (v 4.7.1f8), I get the standard VI Logger window, and if I click run, I do see data streaming past the small data viewing/graph window.  Of course, the task created this way does not save data, but at least I can see that the VI Logger software does recognize, and access the 6281 card.  If I create a task from the VI Logger Task portion of MAX, near the bottom of the list on the left side of the window, I get the standard VI Logger window, I can set up the logger how I want, but when I click the run button, I get the database error message.

I have duplicated this unfortunate situation on two different PXI systems.  I use VI Logger on a desktop PC with three installed PCI-6289 cards without incident, so I know VI Logger can handle this type of task, but apparently not when a PXI chassis is involved.  I have read that the LabView SignalExpress software, LE or Full, might be what I need to use instead of VI Logger.

So, my questions are: is there a way to reconnect, relocate, re-direct the database to VI Logger in the lite version, does VI Lgger work with PXI chassis systems, does VI Logger specifically not work with the PXI-6281 card, is SignalExpress the solution here?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Brian
