ways to correct for gain error other than shunt calibration

hi there,

I am currently using SCC-SG04 to measure the stress and strain of a bearing. But before I could begin, I must calibrate the SG04 module. And I have namely 2 problems.

1)I have connected my strain gages to the Sg04 module and when there is no load or force working on the strain gages, I am unable to null the system offset. I have followed the instructions on the p18 of Series Strain Gage Modules User Guide but there is still an offset of 0.00176 no matter how I rotate the potentiometer wiper. Should I disconnect the strain gages first?

2)I do not have neither SCC-SG11 nor a shunt resistor. Is there any other way of calibrating the SCC-SG04 module?

Thank you very much.

With regards,

Sky Lee
