5412 compatibility with 5411

I have a complex application using 8 outputs of a PCI 5411 arb.  The card has gone missing, the 5411 is no longer available for purchase.  Does the PCI 5412 have a parallel output similar to the 50 pin output of the 5411?  If so, is it controlled similarly, by sending a vector array to the card?

Thanks

Hello,
The NI 5412 does not have a Digital Data Connector (DDC) like the NI 5411 did. The NI 5421 can be purchased with the DDC but the signals are LVDS, which may pose a problem for your current setup.
With the NI 5421 (and NI-FGEN 2.4 or newer) you can route up to 4 Data Marker Events (each one being any bit in your waveform) to any PFI line or RTSI/PXI_Trig line. Additionaly, using Script Mode (also available in NI-FGEN 2.4 or newer) you can route up to four Marker Events to any PFI line or RTSI/PXI_Trig line. Keep in mind both of these advanced features are not available on the NI 5411 nor the NI 5412.

From the sound of your problem, perhaps you should take a look at our High Speed Digital IO line of products.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Marcos,

We invested a lot of capital into using the DDC connectivity offered by the 5411.    Unfortunately, we cannot reinvent this wheel.  I need at minimum 8 TTL outputs.  Does NI offer refurbed 5411 cards?

Hi epurdy
Unfortunately, National Instruments does not have a system in place to resell refurbished modules.

At this time, the only other suggestion I have at this time is to use the NI 5431.  The difference between the NI 5411 and the NI 5431 are basically a smaller bandwidth, 8 MHz vs 16 MHz (5411) and a VCXO with a different frequency.  The VCXO on the NI 5431 has a frequency of 80.038 MHz.  So, depending on your application and its frequency tolerances, this module may or, may not work in your application.
