RFSG seamless power change

Hi
Is it possible to create seamless power change on the NI-RFSG as the shipped example VI drops power for approximately 20mS

Thanks

Hi MHR,

Can you tell me a little more about what device you are using and which specific example you are running?

Hi Way S

We are using the 5671 and are trying to measure squelch hysteresis, but with the dropout we are not able to do the this. We know the UUT has about 2dB of Hysteresis we measured using a conventional sig gen, but with this one to dropout (20mS) causes the squelch to release and then only opens at the cut in point thus giving the effect of no hysteresis.

We have a number of issues related to the no seamless transfer of data where we have had to use a GPIB controlled Sig Gen as an alternative.

Any help would be much appreciated

Hi Mike,

Upon further reseach, it looks like the 5671 cannot do a power change on the fly.  The task has to be stopped to be able to configure the power like in the Power sweep example VI.

It is possible to change output level and frequency on the 5671 "on the fly", without interrupting the signal. See attacthed zip-archive. This is done by changing parameters in the built-in OSP in AWG 5441. I use it myself for squelch measurements.

Hi Way S

Thanks, I was aware that there was an example in the 8.6 version, we are still running 8.2, but are in the process of changing to 2009. I will give it a try then.

Thanks again

I don't think this is depending on the LabVIEW version. Attached is the VI in 8.2 version. If it's not working, I beleive the problem may be an outdated RFSG driver.

Hope this might help someone, as I have spent some time myself on this problem. Btw, the VI was given me be an engineer from NI named Jan Heinonen.

I for one appreciate it. I will be using this in the near future. Thanks Per.

Thanks Per

I will give this one a try, there are many VI's that I have written that will be able to make use of it and speed-up testing, as we will no longer have to wait for the UUT to restabilised after carrier interuption.

Best regards
