Does Signal Express have multi-point cal options for linear position sensor?

I'm trying to figure out how to do a mulit-point calibration for a linear position sensor (basically a resistive LVDT or a large stick pot). I'm running it through the 1314 terminal block at the moment and using the differential mode.

Hello:

It is the impressive system you got there. If I understand you correctly, you are trying to automate the whole calibration processes.

Bad news is you can not totally 100% automate the calibration processes.

Good news is you can automate almost 90% of the process with a good HMI push switch allow user to move to the next step.

You can not eliminate the human interaction between the system and the device.

You simply calibrate your sensor at known value at load 1, load 2, ….. load n.

Good luck.

Hi OKors,

You mentioned you are using the SCXI 1520 module to do position measurements. I assume that you are configuring your task to be a Custom Voltage with Excitation since the SCXI 1520 is primarily a strain gauge module. This being said, is the calibration you want to do actually a scaling to convert the voltages into positions? If it is, this can be easily accomplished by using the custom scaling function as seen in the picture below. You can then enter the proper scaling using your known points using the Map Range or Table options. If you truly want to calibrate the system, you can use the Channel Calibration Wizard as JoeLabVIEWEngineer mentioned which can be found on the Calibration tab in the configuration of the DAQmx Acquire step. You also may want to check out the SCXI 1540 which may be better suited for your needs. I hope this helps.
