FFT result for a sine wave

Hi,

I am computing the FFT of a complex sine wave using the FFT vi. I am able to see a peak at the frequency but I am a little confused since the FFT of a sine wave is a delta function. Does this vi use any window function and so it has a lobe instead of a peak?

Can anyone please help me?

Thanks!

Hi Bsharmi,

Seeing as how this is a LabVIEW issue, I would post this on the LabVIEW section instead of the SignalExpress one.

That being said, there is noise in your sine wave function so it will not be a perfect delta function. The noise introduces other frequencies into your analysis. This can be seen in your sine wave, as it is not a perfect sine wave but one with noise.
