SignalExp window crash when playback

I am using one differential channel of NI9205 on a NI9172 chassis for a +/-5V signal. The project can monitor and record the voltage signal, and I took a few sets of data.

But every time I stop the test and switch to "playback" mode, SignalExp froze and then crash--the window disappeared.

I wonder if anybody experienced this, or have any suggestions on how to deal with it.

I attached my project with this post. I'm using SignalExp V2009 with Vibration suite.

Thanks a lot!

Hi,

I wasn't able to reproduce your issue using SignalExpress 2009. Here's what I tried, in can you find I did something too different:

1. Since I didn't have the actual hardware, I simulated in MAX both the chassis and the device. Just in case this makes a difference, perhaps you could do this as well and see if the crash still occurs. If the crash no longer happens, that will tell me that I need to get my hands on the real thing.

2. Once the project was open in SignalExpress, I pointed the DAQmx Acquire step to use my simulated device. On a side note, I also had to change the device timeout (found on the Advanced Timing tab) to 12s since I was timing out at 10s.

3. I recorded a couple of iterations (about 30s worth). How long do you normally record for?

4. I tried switching to playback mode both by selecting "playback" directly from the pulldown menu, and also by selecting an actual log instance in that same pulldown menu.

Let me know if you have an update. Also, thank you for including the project immediately, doing so is always very helpful!

Hi Phil,

I think I know what happened. The data I recorded previously might be less than 10s worth( I'm using 60Hz sampling rate, and taking 600samples continuously). When playing back that data, the crash happen.

Do you think this is the cause?

Thanks a lot for helping!

Hi,

The amount of time and/or data that you record, whether it's a few points or many should not matter at all. I changed the project that you had submitted to use 60Hz and 600 points and I still can't get a crash. So I'm at a loss.

If you care to try providing the list of things that you're doing between 1) Loading the attached project and N) Crash. That might be very helpful. It would look something like this:

1. load the attached project.

2. click __xyz___.

...

N-1. switch to playback mode by clicking ____abc____.

N. Crash.

This would make sure that I'm not missing any particular steps that you might or might not be doing.

Phil
