SignalExpress application freezes

I have been using SignalExpress to log voltage signals using a USB-6251.  All has been working well, but now when I terminate a recording to a log file, the application starts to decimate the log file then freezes - absolutely nothing functions in the application anymore.  The TDMS files are not created (or were not properly closed and henceforth erased?) and the only way to recover is to use the task manager to terminate the application.  The application is running on a PowerMac under Parallels 5.0 and logging to an external disk (USB 2.0) with over 400 GB of free space.  The USB6251 is logging ai0-ai6 at 1k samples/sec (well under its capability).  I start a new project each time and add the recording step (the only step in the process).  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I can no longer record any logs.

Thanks

Hi Paul,

Just so we are clear you are running the USB 6251 and Signal Express in the Virtualized Windows environment. Can you use the USB 6251 in Measurement Automation Explorer OK? The Parallels 5 software says it supports USB devices so theoretically using it and Signal Express should be OK in the Windows Parallels environment. If Signal Express continually crashes you may want to try repairing your installation installation.

Hi Matt -

Yes, the panel works, and signal express has worked for a long time within parallels.  The 6251 can be seen to actively run the acq step and signals are displayed in real time in the data view.  It's just when you stop recording that the application freezes - no mouse clicks anywhere within the window are functional.  The application continues to merrily collect and display data in the data view, there's just noting I can do with it.

Thanks for your response!

Paul

Hi Paul,

Did anything happen to cause Signal Express to stop working? Virus, Windows updates, Software installation, etc. Have you tried repairing your installation of Signal Express?

I have not tried to repair the installation, but I will.  There have been no windows updates, and I have a virus protection program that is supplied with parallels running, so I don't think that is the problem.  I'll try the re-install.  If that doesn't work, I'll reply again.

Thanks,

Paul
