Hello,
I try to synchronise two NI-9215 (attached to NI USB 9162) using Signal Express to aquire the samples at an external trigger rate. But most unfortunately all the trigger functions are greyed out. Can't this be done with my NI-9215 or is there a magic knob somewhere? Is there another possibility to synchronise these devices? I tried all the tips which are mentioned in the software help, but none worked since Master Time Base as well as Sample Trigger can't be set to external trigger either.
Cheers

The 9215 was originally designed to be used in a compactRIO chassis, so has no onboard triggering or timing circuitry. Using a 9162 means that all timing and triggering must be done in software over a USB line. There is no good way to synchronize these boards under those conditions. The hardware to do so does not exist. This is why all the timing and triggering controls are grayed out. You can achieve rudimentary synchronization by acquiring data at the same time, but you will be subject to all the jitter of the operating system. This is usually on the order of tens of milliseconds, and could be much worse. If you want to use these boards in a synchronized manner, you will need a different carrier. A CompactDAQ chassis, such as the cDAQ-9174, would probably be easiest.
