Tektronix DPO 4054 Oscilloscope runs very slowly with Signal Express Tek. Ed.

I recently installed Signal Express Tektronix edition 2.5 to work with my Tektronix DPO 4054 Digital Phosphor Oscilloscope. When just the oscilloscope is running, without being connected to Signal Express, it refreshes itself very quickly.  However, when it is connected to Signal Express, both the graph on the oscilloscope and the graph on the computer run much more slowly, with a lag of a few seconds between updates.  How can I stop this?  The data I am processing is on the order of microseconds.

Hey Physics Aide,
I am assuming that the connection between your PC and your Oscilloscope is USB 2.0. The explanation to why you are now seeing a downgrade in the refresh rate of your screen on your Tektronix DPO 4054 is due to the processing power now having to be split by the instrument to communicate with the PC that is running Signal Express Tektronix edition 2.5 and that of its video output. Although the screens on your Oscope and the PC you are running Signal Express Tektronix edition 2.5 with might be showing a slower refresh rate, the data is still being taken and recorded at your desired rate. One option you can look into, is the possibility of a faster PC to run Signal Express on, as this has proven useful to some users in the past who were on older PC's.
