Viewing TDMS file created in LabVIEW in Signal Express

I've generated a set of data in LabVIEW and logged it to a TDMS file.  I can read this file back within LabVIEW and see the original data.

I then try to read this file in Signal Express.  The import of the data directory works, but there is no "+" around the log file to expand the data to display.  This is done even with data generated from the TDMS example files delivered with LabVIEW.  I have attached the TDMS and TDMS.index files for anyone who wants to try the import into Signal Express.

Hi Eatherton,

Please find the attached files. The word document includes the instructions that you need to follow, and I have also attached the .zip file and the VI.

Thanks for that reply.  I'll try it out this afternoon.  Do you know if this is a known bug within Signal Express and will be rolled into a future release?  Just for my FYI...

Hi Eli,

I am working with Eric and tried out the installer but it does not recognize the utility in the zip file.  Any suggestions?

I have just tried this and it worked. Make sure that you unzip the whole thing into a folder before running the installer.

Hi all,

I have a question, not being a signal express user, is it possible to save data in a TDMS format (using SE)?

If so, then the process is reversable with regard to Signal express to Labview.

You can save data in LabVIEW and Signal Express in TDMS format.  It is very easy in LabVIEW, all of the VI's are off of the File I/O pallet.  You can read TDMS files in LabVIEW that were generated in Signal Express.  The problem I was having is that I could not import data saved in LabVIEW TDMS into Signal Express.  This fix works with that problem now.

Hi forum,

should the import also work with the evaluation of signal express? I import a tdms file generated by an example of LabWindows/CVI (tdmsWriteBenchmark). The example tdms-Reader works with the generated benchmark data. In Signal express i could import the benchmark tdms file too, but I can only see the log file, but there is no data (e.g. group, or channel(s)). Also after installing the conversion utility (http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/3CEAF51888A117EC862573980061D585) the channels are not visible.

Best regards,

Hi Thomas,

Has your trial of Signal Express expired or are you still within the 30-day period? Once the 30 days has expired, the functionality is reduced according to this chart (http://www.ni.com/labview/signalexpress/purchasing-options.htm).
