Hi,

You can setup an Analog Input Step in SignalExpress and configure it to trigger when your signal enters a particular voltage window that you define.

Depending on whether you want to acquire a finite number of samples or acquire continuously, you can select either N samples or Continuous under Acquisition Mode in the Configuration tab.

thanks for the help and I understand now but when i go into my block diagram and go under signal express there is nothing in there.  Did I load LabVIEW 8.2 wrong or do I have to download that pallete?

Hi,

I apologize for the confusion, but because the post was listed under SignalExpress, I assumed you were working in the SignalExpress environment.  The easiest way for you do implement the trigger in LabVIEW is to use the DAQ Assistant VI.  When you place the DAQ Assistant on your block diagram in LabVIEW, a configuration window very similar to the one in SignalExpress will open up.

An alternative is to configure the DAQmx Start Trigger VI to look for an Analog Window.  The DAQ Assistant is a higher level method of programming.  It will setup and close the task every time it executes.  If you need to increase your programs efficiency, you may want to consider using the DAQmx Start Trigger with the other DAQmx VIs.  You can work off of some of the shipping examples available in LabVIEW (go to Help » Find Examples then select Hardware Input and Output » DAQmx » Analog Measurements).  I hope this helps.
