B, the view of the objects are different from the pallete when we place into the block diagram,

is it because it's assisned to it's default value?

The icon will actually change based on what you wired into the array.  I'm not sure who decided which icons should go into the pallet.  I would have chosen the one for the default values.

These are the kind of questions that drive me nuts on the tests.

Does it really demonstrate my knowledge of LabVIEW if I can remember the details of what these icons represent?   My normal method is to use the context help window to confirm identity of functions when I am not sure.  Plus, even now I can't see the logic of why the insert & the replace functions are represented the way they are.  Either one could easily represent the other function.

Shouldn't the test have questions that more accurately test our knowledge and/or familiarity with LabVIEW?

Hi JohnShannon and welcome to The Daily CLAD.  Hope this one question hasn't put you off returning.

I couldn't agree more.  I would use the Context Help also.  The problem is that these type of questions do occur and people should be prepared.

This question is designed to show that without knowing immediately what the nodes are/do, you can work it out from the graphic on each.

Tomorrows post is about the Swap Values node, more of a classic CLAD style but using a node not many people will have seen or used before (including me).

Steve,

I guess part of my point is that you can’t always work it out from the graphic. Even now I can’t see the logic of why the icon for the insert vs. the icon for the replace couldn’t be switched and still have them both make sense. Icons are not an efficient means of detailed communication.

And no, this has not put me off on The Daily CLAD. The reason I look at it is to become familiar with the questions that I might encounter the next time I take the CLD-R. It’s just that I think that some of the questions are ridiculous, which is not your fault (I hope).

Thanks for providing this resource.
