Bricked RoboRio

Solved!
Go to solution

We were updating the firmware on our RoboRio when we lost power.  Now we are unable to communicate to the device.  The roboRio Imaging Tool version 22.0 shows <No roboRio targets found>.  Tried using the hardware reset.  Looking for suggestions of things to try.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for posting. Is this the original roboRIO, or a roboRIO 2?

Unfortunately, power loss during firmware upgrade probably left the rio in an "unknown" state (meaning, the rio won't know how to boot etc.); however, we have some options to recover it (and which step is next depends on the version of the rio).

I believe this to be the original RoboRio.  M/N # is NI roboRIO, P/N # is 155213F-01L.

The roboRIO should either have the older "National Instruments" logo, or the newer "NI"  logo with "roboRIO 2.0"

Looks to be the original RIO as shown in the pic attached.
