FRC RoboRIO v2 Issues with new VH Radio

Hello I'm from team 3792.

Ever since our first regional during week 3, we haven't been able to communicate to our robot. We're able to connect to the VH-109 radio and RIO separately, but when they are connected to each other they refuse to communicate. We've tried switching out the RIO v2 with a RIO v1, changing ethernet cables, connecting to RIO using USB and also ethernet, changing the RIO and VH-109 to a static IP, and countless re-flashing of RIOs and VH-109 radios, making sure to set team number after imaging. We've only been able to succeed with using the old Open-Mesh radios, which cannot be used at competitions. Is it possible that both the VH-109 and RIO is broken? is there any other methods that we can try to troubleshoot?

Hello team 3792,

Sorry to hear about the communication issues you're experiencing. Given that the roboRIO and VH-109 radio combo is working fine for many other teams, it seems likely that there might be a step missing or an issue with the configuration.

Please follow the official guides carefully and let us know at which step the process breaks down. You can use the Network Assistant Tool to diagnose and fix common issues with the VH-109 radio: https://frc-radio.vivid-hosting.net/overview/programming-your-radio-at-home/network-assistant-tool

You can also test the roboRIO port by setting it up as DHCP/Link local and then connecting via Ethernet from your DS laptop to the RIO (I recommend leaving the RIO in this network setting). The FRC Driver Station software should be able to find it. If the roboRIO port is working fine, then you can move your troubleshooting to the radio: check it has the latest firmware, that you have it configured according to the VIVID Hosting guides, and that you are using the RIO port.

Please let us know where it doesn't work as documented and we can think more of what can be going on.
