USRPX310 with 2 UBX160 and labview

I am trying to follow the steps outlined here https://kb.ettus.com/Converting_an_X310_into_an_NI-USRP_Rio so I can use the X310 with labview.

I am at the very beginning where it says to run the initializeflash.vi..

I get an error saying that the daughterboard is not supported. What am I doing wrong?

Also my motherboard letter revision is K corresponding to 11. Somewhere on the ettus notes it showed only upto 8..Am confused.

Eager to get your feedback on this.

THanks in advance

I updated the FPGA image and then I was able to use the probe command without any errors displayed.

After this when I rebooted the computer, the device is not found anymore.

What should I dod. Did I corrupt the EEPROM somehow?>

Hey lildes,

A couple questions for you:

1. You said you updated the FPGA image. Did you end up skipping over the "Initialize Flash.vi" portion of the instructions or were you successful in doing this?

2. You say the device is not found anymore - what tool are you using to search for the device? If all was successful in the conversion, you may have better luck finding it with the NI USRP Configuration Utility that comes with the NI-USRP driver as opposed to a UHD probe.

3. How is your device connected to your computer? PCIe or Ethernet? In either case, can you see it in a Device Manager or ping it?

Best,

Sam

Hi,

Thanks for responding.

I first had attempted to run the "Initialize Flash.vi" portion of the instructions  but had errors show up when running the uhd_usrp_probe saying fpga image had to be updated or something to that effect.

Hence I updated the fpga.

I also tried to find the device using the NI USRP Configuration Utility, no luck on that either.

After doing that, the communication is messed up somehow.

My device is connected to my laptop using Ethernet, I don't see it in device manager.

Did I brick it?

When I ping 192.168.10.2 , it says destination host unreachable

Today I tried recovering the fpga image using the jtag programmer and Xilinx.

There has been no change...Pinging 192.168.10.2 results in destination host unreachable

and uhd_usrp_probe gives me the same device discovery error.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I was just setting up an x310 over Ethernet the other day and was entirely unable to see it in the configuration utility or ping it until I set my IPv4 connection to a static IP. Since the USRP should default to 192.168.10.2, I put my PC's IP as 192.168.10.1 and was then able to see it in the USRP Configuration Utility. If your PC is set to DHCP, I'd give this a try.

But DHCP is disabled in my case..

In order to check as to whether or not the device is functional at all, are you able to connect the USRP to a host computer over a PCIe/MXIe connection? The device working or not with this connection should allow us to determine whether we're just dealing with a networking / discovery issue, or if something was corrupted in the FPGA flashing process.

HI,

I tried the PCIe with my desktop and it works now.

I am now following the https://kb.ettus.com/Converting_an_X310_into_an_NI-USRP_Rio and  stuck on converting the USRP X310 to the NI equivalent .
