Conversion of MXI/VXI Win 3.XX to Win98/LabView 7.00 with MAX.

Hi bucko,

The 10vxiint.llb file is located in the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW x.x\vi.lib\Instr\VXI folder, where x.x is the LabVIEW version. Attached is the LabVIEW 8.0 version of this library. Have a great day!

Hi Bucko,

Thanks for additional information you provided.

In my case, upgrading still has a long way to go. Recently, I bought MXI-2 board and now trying to upgrade the previous instrument drivers and the test code.

I am planning to use both MXI-1 as slot 0 device to run the the original test code under Win98/DOS and MXI-2 as non slot 0 device to run the diagnosis routines under 2000

With your configuration, is it possible to find the MXI-1 board under devices in MAX? Can you run VISA commands and self tests for the other VXI boards inside MAX?

Cheers,

Hasan

Thanks for the files! I will test them and report the results!

As for VISA, no, I cannot see the VXI section in MAX.

From LabView 8.0 I can communicate normaly with VME and VXI boards (register access through visain and visaout both 8 and 16 bit --- 32bit access has never worked). Since this is what we need mostly, it was much cheaper to buy a new PC with ISA slots than a new MXI-2 PCI board, cable and VXI box. (What we have is some VME I/O boards, counters, time-to-digital clock and VMVE162 computer).

The lvvxi.dll file is located in the C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW x.x\resource folder, where x.x is the LabVIEW version.

I put the DLL in a zip file. Let me know if you need additional files.

MissyD,

thank you for the file. Actually, I have found out, that I don't have any of the DLLs that are referenced from 02config.llb, 03wscmdr.llb, 05lobus.llb, 06hibus.llb. Where are these dlls from? LV7, LV6, LV5, some VISA? We have all LV versions, so if they are on some particular CD, I can get them, just don't know where to look.

Thank you for your excellent help!

Hello Bucko,
The files that you are referring to should be installed with your VXI driver into the following location C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW x.x\vi.lib\instr\VXI.

I did not follow this entire thread so I do not know the order in which you installed drivers so it is possible that this may have led to certain features not being installed.  One thing that may help would be to install LabVIEW 7.0 onto a machine without installing any other instrument drivers.  This machine should be clear of any other National Instruments drivers.  (Since the VXI driver does install some components of VISA, having a copy of VISA on the machine can cause conflicts during the install process.)  Then install the VXI driver with LabVIEW support and you should be able to find the files that you are looking for.  You can then copy these files into the corresponding version of LabVIEW/location on your machine.

I hope this helps, let us know if you have any more questions about this.
