I am running a VeriStand 2020 project and am trying to set up safeties so that a long test can run unmonitored. I have several conditions that I would like apply a persistence to...such that the condition must remain for the alarm to trip. The alarm is intended to generate a software E-stop, so I don't want any nuisance stops. Within the alarm settings, there is a Delay Duration that I can set, and there is also a Delayed Trip option under the Default State selection. However, I can't tell from the description of these whether they are truly a persistence or simply a delay. In other words, do these functions force the condition to remain for a time before taking action, or do they simply delay the alarm action? Also, under the Default State, there are four choices, but only Disabled and Enabled are available to me. The Tripped and Delayed Trip options are both grayed out. Why are those options not available to me?
Ultimately, I would like to understand how to set up alarms that include persistences, so if there is an advised way to do this, I'd love to know how.
