Today I explored Pattern Matching using NI Vision Assistant with different types of screws including short, long, and similar-sized screws. The objective was to test how accurately machine vision can identify multiple objects with variations in size and orientation.
The workflow included:
- Image Acquisition using Vision Acquisition tools
- Template creation for screw matching
- Pattern Matching in Vision Assistant
- Detection and classification of multiple screws in a single image
The inspection achieved 100% matching accuracy during testing. This exercise helped me understand how pattern matching can be used in industrial automation for:
- Component identification
- Quality inspection
- Sorting applications
- Object localization
I also observed how lighting, orientation, and template selection affect matching performance and reliability in machine vision systems.
