Hello Laura,

you do not really need to know that stuff.

If you're using a NI GPIB board, you can use the GPIB Write and GPIB Read functions to communicate with your instument. The instuctions depend on your device.

Do you?

Paul

Hi,

i guess we are talking about devicenet here? You could use the configurator which comes with NI-DNET 1.5 or laterto import a EDS file for your device. Beckhoff should have such a file for download. Thats the only way to get a complete list, besides the manual.

And it requires NI Hardware and Software.

Hi,

to PaulFS: I'm sorry that I was too upset, so that I haven't described the BK5220. It is a DeviceNet, which is the product of Beckhoff. BK is "Bus Klemmen", just "bus terminal". It connects with PC by a serial port. So I think, when I use GPIB to read the date of BK5220, this problem will be more complex. However, thanks for your help! 🙂

to DirkW:  I'have downloaded the last EDS of BK5220, and read it carefully. I've got a lot of tips. It did help me a lot. Thank you for your suggestion! 🙂

Now I can read almost all the register of BK5220. When anyone also want to read it with LabVIEW, I suggest, you can read EDS file of BK5220 and another user manual - Identify Terminals - from Beckhoff Industry Elektronic, which will describe the Registermodell of BK5220 and show you the examples.
