Hey,
I have tried it and it doesn’t work. I have installed NI-XNET 1.7 with CAN compatibility and have the NI PCI-8512 in MAX. I have selected CAN0 from VI settings and got this error massage

You need external bus power for the 9862 module.
Connect your 9862 module to a NI CAN Breakout Box.

Well I will try it tomorrow but I think i will have same problem. Anyway about that CAN Breakout Box don't have it right now. But we have that module in chassis so it can be connected to pc/notebook. So how can we connect it to that CAN Breakout Box and to pc/notebook?

Connect the Breakout Box with the 9862 module. And connect the Breakout Box with the OBD connector of your CAR.
You can switch on/off the Bus termination at the Breakout Box. Related if you use terminated or non terminated CAN cables.

We have a new version of the OBDII Monitor Demo. The demo is working with NI-CAN or NI-XNET.

Thank you. Maybe now we won't need external power source. 🙂
