ni can 2.7.4 not showing up under NI max remote system

Solved!

Hi,

I am trying to install the NI CAN 2.7.4 software to a cRIO through MAX.  I have verified that I have the can module and rio drivers installed.  I have CAN 2.7.4 installed on the computer but when I go to MAX to install on the target it won't show up.  Does anyone have any experience with this?  Can I even use the NI CAN 2.7.4 with the cRIO?  I keep reading conflicting information.  I have a NI 9853 attached to it if that makes a difference.

Thanks.

What is your use case? If you want to do frame to signal conversion on compactrio I suggest to use NiXnet conversion session on the crio RT. Otherwise you dont need NICAN driver on crio installed

I'm simply trying to use some of the vis that come with the NI can driver.  When I try to use them I get an error say "Failed to load shared library nican.*:nctGetNamesLength:C. Ensure that the library is present on the RT target. Use MAX to install NI software or FTP to transfer custom libraries to the RT target."  I read that to fix this I need to have NI CAN on the target but it wont show up as a software I can install into it.

Not even as a real time vi?  I read it can't be used with FPGA but RT is possible.

On Pharlap OS it will work but not talk to a fpga device like 9853
Check the 9853 CAN examples under compactrio in the example finder
