the signal i get from my hand grip heart rate monitor doesnt look like the normal ecg signal, why is that?i have attached a screen shot of my front panel(i know the UI is not friendly, i will make changes on it),would you please care to take a look at it?the signals on the top represents the heart beat. the bottom one is the respiratory signals.
my objective is to analyse the baseline signals acquired from the subject with the following continuous signals from the same subject.so should i be using lvm or tdms file format?also could you please give me an idea of functions that i need to use for the signal analysis?

Hi Irshu,
It looks right if you are using Vernier hand grip heart rate monitor. It will output a pulse when it detects a heart beat. It is not a ECG recorder. You could detect the pulse number to calculate the heart rate. However it could not acquire the real ECG signals.
You could use tdms to save the data, then import to Biomedical Startup Kit for analysis.
Thanks!

oh noo...i thought i could extract the ecg features from the sensor.the accuracy of a lie detector will be limited when used with a pulse detector other than ecg, isnt it?
thanks for getting back to me, yes;i'm using Vernier's Hand grip heart rate monitor.

I don't think lie detectors usually use anything in the ECG other than heart rate - you should be fine just using the heart rate determined from the pulses generated by the hand grip sensors. Have you checked the literature to see how ECG is used by lie detector systems?

yes,you are right.they extract the heart rate from the ecg.but my heart rate monitor sometimes gives noisy data; i get 160 BPM in certain readings.normally it should fall in b/w 60-100 bpm.i will use the clustering to clean the data and remove the outliars
