I recently read in a book a passage which I will quote below:
"Formula for Success: Instruction + Example X Experience = Success"
Well, I must admit that I owe my success to this forum. I cannot find any other technical forum that provides so many Instructions on software programming, hardware interface and instrumentation. There are knowledge base articles, nuggets, posts, etc. Instructions are abound. When searching these forums, there are literally thousands of examples. Code snippets are abound. You can even learn how not to do things or do things right by reading various posts, especially the Rube Goldberg thread. I send many novice people to read that thread. It is a must read for any new employee.
The experience... On many occasion, I gained experience by trying to help someone. I think of a solution, try it out, improve it and then post it. Of course experience is mostly gained by doing, but it is also gained by sharing.
If this forum is not a success story, then I do not know what success is.. But, if I believe that the "formula for success is : Instruction + Example X Experience", then this forum meets that definition.
My success would not be without the participation of everyone in this forum, no matter the level of competency, because I learn as much from the novice or from the masters. I want to thank each and everyone for participating in the fantastic journey. I owe my gratitude to everyone and especially to National Instruments for investing a great deal into making this the number 1 forum world-wide and a special thanks to Jeff Kodosky for creating such a wonderful language.
