Can I read the status of the PFI4 and PFI9 line of a 6111 DAQ Card ?

To check a connection, I would like to see the status
with of the gate lines pfi4 and 9 of my pci6111.

Greetings,

For checking connections, I would suggest to use the test panels in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX). If you open MAX and find the PCI-6111 within the devices and interfaces foler, right-click on the PCI-6111 and select test panels, you'll be able to test the analog input, analog output, digital i/o, and counter timer i/o.

Go to the Counter I/O tab and select simple event counting for the counter mode. Then select either PFI 4 or PFI 9 for the event source and then press the start button.

The count will increment when it sees a pulse on the event source you select.

I hope this helps. Have a great day.

Thank for your suggestion, but..

i try to write a selftestprogramm to be run by the enduser who is not
familiar with the great possibilities of MAX. Check the connection to the
gate inputs via a
few diolines is just one step in that lv written selftestapplication.

I would have liked to use one of the plenty low level vi´s supporting the
e-series
to get a closer look at the state of the pfi lines.
If that is not possible, I would see myself forced to do a gated counting
just to see
the pfi lines working, by taking a look at the different countervalues that
turn up.

Nevertheless thank you for your thoughts on solving my problem

Best regards

Hello again,

Unfortunately, there really isn't a way monitor the state of PFI lines other than doing it through counters. If you have unused digital or analog input channels you could connect the signals in question to them and monitor them with a digital or analog read. That would be the only other way to monitor the state of the signals connected to PFI lines. Good luck with this.

allright, i´ll stop looking for other ways to check the pfi gate input.
I´ll set up a gated counting.

Thank´s for your support.
