dasylab causes computer to shut off

I created a diagram in DasyLab that reads 8 AI channels from a DaqBook 2020.
Reads 2 TC channels
Reads 1 Counter channel and calculates frequency.

It also controls 3 DIO lines and 2 AO lines.

When I click run the program runs great for 5 to 20 seconds before the computer just shuts off with no warning, no blue screen, nothing.

Any idea what would cause this?

I filled out the tech support request on the DasyLab website at this address about 24 hours ago and I have yet to recieve a repsones.

So I'm hoping to get better response thru this forum.

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,

I'd like to know if you've been able to get this particular 3rd party DAQ device to successfully run other applications or DASYlab projects in the past. Also, are you able to succesfully acquire analog inputs from your sound card using DASYlab? I would recommend contacting the manufacturer of the DAQBook 2020 if this is the case to trouble shoot the device.

Again, the best channel for support for DASYlab with third party hardware is through dasylab.com  as they support the actual software package. If time is critical, I recommend trying to give them a call but if time is not critical I'd wait to see if they respond to your email in the next 48 hours. If they do not, re-post and we'll try to work through the problem the best we can.

We have been using the DAQ Book 2020 with DasyLab for quite some time.  I just wrote a new program that added a bunch of capability for the users with regard to them being able to change channel names and units.

After having no success at finding the cause of the shutdown I wrote a very basic program to just record the data I needed and it worked just fine.  So I'm 99.9% sure that the issue is with DasyLab.

I never received a response from DasyLab.com.  I would have given them a call but I can't find their phone number any where on the website.  So after great disappointmenbt from DasyLab, once again, I called IOTech, the manufacturer of the DAQbook2020 and they have a possible solution.

I'm running DasyLab 9.00.00 which had some bugs.  The engineer I spoke to at IOTech thinks upgrading to 9.00.02 will solve the issue.  I have yet to try this but I will be soon.

Do you have knowledge of the bugs in 9.00.00?  Do  you think this could be the cause?

Thanks for your response.

I find this interesting because the same thing is happening to me with Daqbook 120.  In my case, I upgraded to a new computer and to DasyLab 10 at the same time, and am occasionally having the abrupt shutdown happen.  I never had this kind of crash on the old  computer (intel processor) and DasyLab 9.

The MIS department is wondering about the duo-core processors, since we are having network problems with them also.  I'd be curious to know what other harware people are running on, if you are having shut-downs.

I just tried showing the shut down issue to a co-worker and to my amazement I ran into the same phenomenon that is common when taking your car to the mechanic.  DasyLab didn't cause the computer to turn off.

But it did cause the cooling fan to go crazy.  It turned on full blast then start cycling on and off.  But not at any regular interval.

Between now and the shut down issue a new piece of software was installed on the laptop but that is the only change that was made.  I still have to install the DasyLab upgrade.
