scaling module not acting correctly

In my program, the scaling module is not acting correctly. It is supposed to zero based on the first block of data, and usually it does. When it does work, it takes 5 seconds to get the first block of data (via rs232), displays the actual reading of the sensor, then when the next block comes in (5 seconds later), it will zero. What has been happening as of late is the first value is zero, and it stays zero as if the sensor was not connected. Is this a problem with the scaling, the rs232, or just  a fluke? Usually if you restart the experiment it works again.

It would be interesting to see how you have configured the scaling module.

I've never used it with the RS232 module. What is the normal update rate for it?
