Is it possible to launch DIAdem inside IE

There is a Java Web Application in our lab, which manages all the test data.

By browser IE, test data can be easily get on every computer.

Is it possible to integrate DIAdem with our system?

can DIAdem be used as an ocx?

Hi Chian

If you enter "DIAdem.ToCommand" in the Index of the help, you find an example in the list. You can use the IE to send commands to DIAdem or set or read variables.

Hope this helps

Hello Chian!

Can you provide me some additional information:
  • What can you do today in the IE? Can you select and download the data to your local computer?
  • Who generates the page in the IE? Is this done by the Java Web App or can you change/extend it?
  • What do you want to do? Start a predefined processing in DIAdem with selected data?
  • Do you want to write back results or reports or ....?

As Winfried mentioned DIAdem could be fully controlled by an external application (IE in this case) via COM. DIAdem is no OCX it is an 'Automation Server' and could no be embedded into a web page like the Adobe PDF reader. From the IE view DIAdem will run as an external application. Depending on the IE security settings it might be a problem to create a COM object from within a web page.

Hi Chian,

Currently DIAdem does not make this easy.  DIAdem is not built with components designed to be embedded in a browser, nor does DIAdem install a web service API that you can use to communicate with it from a browser.

If you really want all of DIAdem in your IE browser, your only option is to use a Terminal Services layer such as Citrix or the one from Microsoft.  It's not a cheap solution, but DIAdem looks and works great in an IE browser pointed at a Citrix server.
