Loading mode "TDM"

I've recently saved a data file with the name All.TDM and then found I couldn't open it, but instead received an error message, "Cannot load the (filepath/filename.TDM) file with the loading mode 'TDM' ! Refer to log file."

The log file reads, "O:\1024436 Technical Information\Phase 2\Springs\Front\All.TDM(3442) : fatal error xercesc::SAXParseException 23 : Expected an element name
fatal error (42) :Errors while processing the model"

Of course, this means nothing to me.

I reconstructed the file and saved it again with the same filename and the same error has occured.

What's going on?

Thanks, Si.

Hi Si,

I've done a similar test with DIAdem 2010 - it works fine.

Please can you try the following test:

load the DIAdem Example.TDM file

save this file in the folder "C:\Test\" with the name "All.TDM"

Try to load it

Which DIAdem revision and USI version do you use (DIAdem->Help->About)?

Greetings

Walter

Hi Walter,

I've tried repeating it too and now all seems well - one of those spurious things I suppose.

For reference I am using Revision: 9.10.2036 and USI 1.1.0.2035.

Cheers.

Would it be possible to post the tdm header file. I do not need the tdx file. Just to analyze what happened.

Sorry - all deleted now. If it happens again then I'll post it here.

Cheers, Si.

It's happened again! Same data but different filename; perhaps it's the channel construction or something?

I've posted the TDM as requested.

Thanks, Si.

Hmm, the writing of the file failed some way.

Somewhere the xml structure stops and the file is filled with 0 character values.

Some questions:

- The file was saved with DIAdem?

- Did an error occure during save?

- Which DIAdem/USI version is used?

On open there has to be an error because the file is not correctly saved and the xml structure is invalid.

If you have lost valueable data it would be possible to reconstruct the header becasue the binary description for the tdx file is saved completely.

The answers to your questions are:

1. Yes. And re-opened just to check that it worked!

2. No.

3. Revision: 9.10.2036 and USI 1.1.0.2035

The only difference between the time I checked that the file worked and the time it failed was the closing and re-opening of the application and about 2 days.

No, the data isn't valuable and I can reconstruct it.

Another clue may be that I have an identical file except for it doesn't contain the last group, which I inserted manually. I added two channels to that goup and each channel contained one value. The original file still works (TDM attached).

Cheers, Si.

Actually I do not see an ability why the writer should stop without an error.

So at the end it does not stop but write 0x0 to the file.

I have never seen something like this before.

I can not think of any relation between your data and the error.

Is it possible that it is a very low memory situation?

You can also use an WebBrowser to validate the xml structure of the tdm file.

I'm sorry but I don't understand the technical points that you are making. As for memory, both the laptop I'm working on and the server holding the files have gigabytes of space free so I don't suppose that's a problem.

Cheers, Si.
