Hi,
I would like to keep the name of a TDMS file, that is its root, when I drag it into another one. In other words, I would like to know how to get more than just one root in the Data Portal. I have read this already but that was linked to Excel and the problem was dodged by doing something else.
Problem: I am under the impression that this is impossible... otherwise methods like RootPropValGet would not know what to return in case there are at least two roots sharing the same property name with different values inside.
If I cannot do it, I am asked to store instead, in the properties, the name of the TDMS file each channel comes from. Which sounds more doable.
Could you please either confirm my impression or help me figure this out ?
Thank you.

Hi Near,
The DIAdem 2012 Data Portal can indeed only contain one Root. You can easily choose to have your Root properties automatically inherited to the Group level, which I recommend in this case. Go to the NAVIGATOR menu "Settings>>Options>>NAVIGATOR" and in that dialog under the "Loading behavior" section in the "DataFinder property inheritance level" field, select "move to loade level". If you want this setting to persist, you should save the Desktop.DDD file afterwards by selecting the NAVIGATOR menu "Settings>>Options>>Save As..."
