Unable to register UFF plugin

Solved!
Go to solution

Dear all,

for the work with UNV data files I've tried to register the UFF data plugin; downloaded from NI page, filename niusiuff58_19-1-07651.exe

This is a self-extracting archive, here I changed the path for extraction (from C:\\NI Downloads to C:\\Desktop, but this should have no impact). The Installation was started then from this Folder.

At the end a failure message popped out (see attached PNG).

Did we do something wrong? Is this plugin not supported any more?

Or is there another way to open UFF-58 files in DIAdem now?

Currently use DIAdem-2019 SP1 on a Win-10 System.

Hi Dia791,

The UFF-58 DataPlugin is still supported and should run fine with DIAdem 2019 on Windows 10.  I have a slightly older version on my Windows 10 computer and it works fine with DIAdem 2020.  The screenshot you attached actually looks like the DataPlugin installation might have completed.  The associated *.uri file may need to be run manually, though.  See if you have this file on that computer:

"C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\Shared\USI\Plugins\DataPlugins\UFF-58\UFF-58.uri"

If so, please double-click it with Windows Explorer to execute the *.uri and register the UFF-58 DataPlugin.  Then see if you can import UFF-58 data files in DIAdem.

If the *.msi installer really did throw an error before completing, then we'll need to investigate further.

Hello Brad.

Maybe that's specific of languages, but exactly that path I cannot find.

What I have:

C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\USI\DataPlugins

  • AOP5
  • AOP6
  • Audio

Folder Plugins in USI doesn't exist, as well as UFF-58 in DataPlugins.

Besides this, there is also available:

C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Shared\USI\DataPlugins

But also there an UFF-58 folder doesn't exist.

🤔

An update: the folder does exist 🙂 but seems to be not visible per Standard...

However the UFF is not listed there (see attachment).

Hi Dia791,

That picture you posted does look like the UFF DataPlugin installer failed to complete properly-- not just failed to register the *.uri file.  Have you tried the previous DataPlugin version (NIUSIUFF58_19.1.07412.exe)?

Were you running the DataPlugin installer "As Administrator"?

Hello Brad.

No, I didn't try to install any previous versions; should that help?

And yes, the installation was started as admin (you mean for sure to select "run as admin" and not just double-click...)

Hi Dia791,

Would you humor me and uninstall that UFF DataPlugin and then reinstall it, this time taking the default (downloads) location?  There's a chance that will help.

If that doesn't help, then I suggest that you uninstall the UFF DataPlugin and try to install the earlier version.  They should both install, but there's a chance the older one will succeed in your environment.

I'm suggesting low-moderate likelihood options because we don't have resources at the moment to react quickly to UFF DataPlugin issues when they're reported.  I'm hoping to land upon a workaround while we look into this, eventually.

Hello Brad.

It's confusing but the older version (NIUSIUFF58_2.7.06656.exe) was succesfully installed and does work...

No idea what you guys did change 🙂

A small proposal in this regard: it's not easy to find older plugin versions; on the NI page you have only the current one.

It could help to add a link with previous verions, just for similar case...

Thanks a lot!

I am facing same issue, I am working with DIAdem 2017.

Can someone share the link of older version of the plugin? (Suitable for DIAdem 2017).

Many thanks
