determining duration of time signal is above threshold

I need to know not only that an event happened, but for how long it happened.  I have been completely unsuccessful in my attempts so far.

I am a noob, so examples would be very helpful....

This example does something very close to what you want.  Hopefully you can use it without having to edit it any.
