save function button assignment

I have assigned a script to one of the function keys in the toolbar, but every time I close DIAdem it resets the assignment, and I have to browse for the script again.

Is there a way to save the ket assignment?

Hi Jo-Jo,

Do you save the settings in the Desktop.DDD file? That is where all the setting get saved. Take a look at this page for more information. So basically after you assign a key to a script, when you try to close DIAdem it will ask you if you want to save it. Click yes, and save it as Desktop.DDD before closing the DIAdem.

Another question is that when you say it resets the assignment, does it still run the specific script based on the assigned key, and just doesn't open it in the script section. Or does it just not remember what script each key is assigned to?

Let me know how it goes.

No, it doesn't work.  When I reopen the .DDD, it says the script is linked to the function key (f2), but then when I press shift+f2, instead of executing the script, it de-links it from the button. After that the button doesn't show the script name anymore.

Hey Jo-Jo,

I was able to save a function to my F2 key.  Here's what I did.  Go to the Script tab.  Then under DIAdem Scripts, Right-Click on F2 and select Predefine Setting....  Next, select the ... and search for the script you want to assign to it.  Select Open and then OK.  Now close DIAdem.  It will state the program settings have changed and prompt you to save.  Select Yes, and then hit Save.  Go ahead and overwrite the Desktop.DDD file already there.  When you re-open DIAdem, Shift-F# will operate that function.
