Thanks for the request. 

I have a question, what would you prefer? a button to clear the status or a control to set the limit on the number of characters to be displayed?

I have found myself implementing the latter more often than the first one. This is useful when API Testers are shipped with an exe as a debugger, and they can end up having a Status indicator too long for its own good.
