invalid file format error

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi,

I want to install DQMH package to my Labview. The problem is that my computer cannot be connected to the internet. so I downloaded the package from another PC in two different ways:

a. as a VIPM package  - I can't dounload VIPM application so I used the "Download Package" option.

b. From the FTP server, as Fabiola suggested here:

https://forums.ni.com/t5/DQMH-Consortium-Toolkits/How-to-install-DQMH-in-a-computer-with-no-internet...

In both ways, I copied the *.vip files to the 2nd computer and opened them with VIPM application and the files was recognized as packages.

The problem is that when I tried to install the packages, I got the message "DQMH.. could not be added to VIPM because the file format is not valid".

What can be the reason for this error?

My labview and VIPM are both 2019 version.

Thank you,

Roey

Hi Roye,

You can find viplc for all FQMH version here --> https://dqmh.org/#download

Could you please try from there?

Hi Olivier,

Unfortunately, that didn't work.. The Download link sends to either NI website or VIPM website so it is the same file I have already downloaded. I tried it again and also tried to install older version of DQMH (5) and the same error message always appears 😞

Do you have any other idea?

Regards,

Roey

If you follow the "Click here to download other releases (previous versions or beta)" link on the DQMH.org website, it takes you to the Downloads page of the DQMH wiki. There, you can directly download .vipc files for the various DQMH versions.

Could you please try one of those .vipc files?

From there I downloaded DQMH 5 and it didn't work (I guess you mean .vip file?).

Maybe I have a problem with the VIPM app itself? I didn't install it independently so I guess it was installed as a part of my LabVIEW (2019 professional 64 bit) installation..

I succeed to build my own packages but not to install another packages.

Technically, we provide VI Package Configuration files (.vipc). Those files contain a list of needed VI packages, and also the packages themselves in some cases. But the result should be the same anyhow.

Maybe you're right and the VIPM is broken somehow. Can you try to remove and reinstall the VI Package Manager? That should be little work and might solve the problem.

If that does not help, you could turn to the JKI community:

Is VIPM installation file included in the LabVIEW Professional installation toolkit? (As I mentioned, my LabVIEW PC does not connected to the internet...).

VI Package Manager is a product provided JKI (i.e. it is not a product of NI and it's not installed together with LabVIEW). See also this NI Help page. You can select during the installation of LabVIEW if you want to install VIPM (the option is checked by default)

Assuming the installation of VIPM is corrupted, can you download the installer at vipm.io/download on a different computer and then copy it to your LabVIEW PC to reinstall?

Edit: Corrected some wrong information after talking to Fab. If you have VIPM installed correctly, please try opening VIPM, and select "Apply Configuration..." from the File menu, then browse to and select the downloaded .vipc file?

So.. I uninstalled VIPM and reinstalled it at 2019 version, and that did not solve the problem.

I tried to select "Apply Configuration" option (although it expect .vipc file whether I have .vip file, so I also changed to "all files"), and it is still with the same error..

I don't know what to do...

* I bought Fab book "LabVIEW Programming" and I cloned VIPM demo project from her GitHub, but again it depends on DQMH installation so I have missing files also there...

What else can I try? (I am new to VIPM, so maybe I am doing some stupid mistake..)

If you go to https://wiki.dqmh.org/dqmh/downloads you should see the list of releases.

The link to DQMH 6.0 is https://dqmh.org/download/454/ and it should download a file by the name of dqmh_6.0.vipc (31.3 MB). This file is the configuration that VIPM should apply.

Can you repeat these steps on your system? Does it look differently?
