9211 Installation Problem

I am having trouble communicating with the 9211 thermocouple device through the DAQ assistant.  It appears in the MAX as a USB device, but will not allow me to make a new virtual channel with it.  The device does works with the data logger, but I want to use this in a applicable VI.  Thanks for your help.

Hi Jmc-

If you have a USB-9211 (with USB-9161 carrier) you will not be able to use the DAQ Assistant.  This device is supported only by NI-DAQmx Base, not NI-DAQmx.  You will need a USB-9211A (with USB-9162 carrier) in order to use the DAQ Assistant.

I have the NI cRIO-9211 with the NI USB-9161 carrier.   Is this compatible with the DAQ assistant?

Hi Jmc-

No, the USB-9161 carrier and NI 9211 combination is referred to as a USB-9211 and is not supported by NI-DAQmx or the DAQ Assistant.  See my above post for more information.
