How to begin acquisition at the right time?

I am looking into writing a test for a circuit with LabVIEW 7.1, Teststand 3.1, 5 PXI-6551s, and 1 PXI-6561.  I was wondering what is the best way to begin acquisition given the delay through the circuit to the time when the acquisistion signal come out of the circuit.   What is the best "line", PFI, Trigger, Clk?  Will I need to seperate the acquisistion and the generation in seperate VIs to or can they be comibined?

Thanks for the help,
Brian

Brian,

The "best" is really dependent on where you want the trigger to come from.  It sounds to me like the best for you would be to use one of the PFI lines as this will be triggered by your external circuit.  As far as acquistion and generation in the same vi, this can be done.  Take a look at some of the examples in the LabVIEW example finder.  The examples for the HSDIO boards are in the Hardware Input and Output/Modular Instruments/NI-HSDIO folder.  Take a look at the Dynamic Generation and Acquisition folder for some vis that do both.  I hope this helps and feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.  Thanks and have a great day!
