PCI-6111 Error's

Hello,

I have a PCI-6111 coupled with a E5500 phase noise system. When the phase noise measurement software is opened an error message of -10608 will display and will not allow for testing further - this also happens at random it seems, meaning one day it'll be fine and then the next day it won't work at all. We have swapped in another card and the results seem to be the same. So far I'm leaning towards it being the computer itself causing the issues but was hoping for another piece to possibly look at.

Thank you.

Where does PCI-6111 come into the picture? Keysight did not mention anything about PCI-6111 in their E5500 Phase Noise measurement system brochure.

Thank you for the response,

Based off the N5500A test set information (can be found here), there's a monitor (phase detect output) which is where we use the PCI-6111 input for the FFT analyzer.

It would have helped if you attached the pdf instead of having to register with Keysight to see the content.

Here is a possible solution for your error,

Sorry, hadn't realized I'd been logged in already, I would have attached the file otherwise.

I had tried closing some programs and it didn't seem to make a difference so I'm not sure it's actually an interference issue with another program trying to gain control of the card. I'll try checking some other things and respond to this if a solution is found.

Thank you.

Swapping in a new card has fixed the issue for now, believe there to be an issue still just hasn't presented itself yet.

Please note, we had swapped in another PCI card prior to this one and had a similar result of our system working, however later on having the same failure as the first PCI card. Either way I'm in belief that there is some sort of communication error for the input side when these errors present themselves.

Also attached are PDF documents related to the questions above for any future reference so a keysight login isn't required to download the E5500 phase noise system documents that were requested above.

Hi there,

Chiming in here, PCI-6111's are old NI boards and can be hard to find.  The NI Trading Post is a great place to request the NI parts you need, and maybe even sell off NI parts that you don't 😀.  In fact, we've just helped someone find PCI-6111's.  Different from ebay sellers, we also test the parts to make sure the parts are functional.  Just a resource to keep in mind as you maintain your old NI systems.  Cheers!
