PCI-6514 with Labview 6.1

Is it possible to use the DIO card 6514 with Labview 6.1? It appears that the only driver for it is a DAQmx driver which 6.1 can't use. If it isn't possible, what is a comparable digital input/output card that is compatible with 6.1 as right now I can't upgrade the application to 7.1? Thanks.

Hi TS9,

All of the industrial (30V and 60V) digital IO boards are only supported in DAQmx. We offer the 5 volt PCI-6509 which can drive up to 24 mA. But if you need it to control a higher voltage you would need to purchase one of the relay accessories with it.

You can get the compatability VI's here:

If you are really in a crunch, we do have the Traditional DAQ compatability VI's. These compatability VIs allow you to use your MX only device in the traditional DAQ programming environment. They should allow you to use the 6514 with LV 6.1. However, these compatability VI's are only meant to be a temporary solution to ease t
he difficulty of people moving to DAQmx. The best long term solution would be to upgrade to LV 7.1 and use DAQmx. In the future, devices will be offered only in DAQmx as Traditional DAQ is phased out.

Hi,
Well the compatibility vi's sounded good but it looks like they work only for LV 7.x, not 6.1.
I may be able to make a 7.x executable for the DAQ and have the current application remain in 6.1 for now if I can get VI server working between them or look for a different DIO card that will work in 6.1 and mess with the 30V wiring through relays. Long term we do plan to upgrade the current application to 7.1, but timing and testing is the issue for that.
